Borderlands 2 VR PC Release Date Finally Confirmed

The Borderlands 2 VR PC release date has been confirmed, and it’s not far off.

In early September developer Gearbox confirmed that the game would be coming to PC VR headsets soon. We now know it’s coming to Steam on October 22nd. The news was announced during Kinda Funny’s first episode of The Borderlands Show. It’s already listed on Steam itself, confirming native support for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Valve Index and Windows VR aren’t listed, though you should be able to play them via OpenVR.

Not only that, but the PC release of the game will include all of the DLC on release. When Borderlands 2 VR first hit PC last year it included the base game alone. DLC content, adding new missions and characters, was only added earlier this month for free. That said, neither version of the game will include four-player co-op support; it’s a single-player only affair.

Even with that setback, we thought Borderlands 2 was a pretty decent port on PSVR. “The small gameplay tweaks aren’t enough to rewrite a game that was designed around four-player co-op, but the core of the experience is so strong, rewarding, and entertaining that it serves as a feature-rich and exciting VR shooter in its own right despite its flaws,” we said.

Still no word on if the just-released Borderlands 3 (or older Borderlands games) will wind up getting VR support. We have high hopes, though.
