PlayStation VR’s debut is inching ever closer and Sony has started to push the gas pedal down a bit further with their marketing and promotion. They’ve even opened up an exhibit for visitors of their Sony Square NYC to get a hands-on with 5 of their titles. Now, Sony has sweetened the pot for anyone willing to give the new piece of technology a shot.
Whether you grab a pre-order bundle or the core unit, Sony will include a demo disc that features a diverse collection of games so you’re introduced into the VR experience completely.
- DriveClub VR*
- EVE: Valkyrie*
- Harmonix Music VR
- Here They Lie
- Job Simulator
- PlayStation VR Worlds*
- Resident Evil 7 Biohazard – “Kitchen”
- Rez Infinite
- Rigs Mechanized Combat League*
- Tumble VR*
- Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
- Wayward Sky*
That list is for the North American demo disc specifically. Gamesradar notes the UK disc has significantly fewer titles as noted by the asterisks in that list, the same 8 titles that were revealed previously. Despite whatever reasons this discrepancy exists, hopefully Sony will do right by its UK fans and offer the additional games on PSN soon after the VR launch. With the debut of such major tech, bad PR is a no go especially this early in the game.
Sony understands that VR is largely an experience that will have to spread organically with people getting their hands on the device, so they’re pushing for a shared experience on their blog by specifically suggesting you take the PS VR and demo disc over to your friend’s place so they have a go. If you somehow end up with a used PS VR set eventually, no worries: The demo collection will also be available for free on PSN after launch.
PlayStation VR will be available on October 13th for $399, £349 or AU$550. Be sure to read our 50 Days of PS VR countdown series, currently at #29 with Psychonauts in Rhombus of Ruin. All past entries are linked at the bottom.
We have reached out to Sony for comment on the difference between the two region’s demo discs.
