Carbon Studios Delays 'Alice VR' - Release Pushed To 'Early Autumn' 2016

Paweł Gajda is the project manager, story architect and scriptwriter at the virtual reality gaming company Carbon Studios. That’s a lot of hats for one head but, unfortunately, Gajda recently needed to add yet another title to this already crowded resume: the bearer of bad news.

Gajda broke the story to Upload via email earlier this week that the studio’s much anticipated title, Alice VR, is being delayed.

The game was originally slated to release in April on both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. However, Gajda’s email explained that the studio is now targeting a release date of “early fall” 2016.

Gajda’s full remarks are as follows:

“I want to update you on what’s going on with ALICE VR.

We’re pushing the release of our game to early autumn.

We got an opportunity to further develop and polish ALICE VR. Soon, we’ll be able to reveal some more details about what caused this decision and how ALICE VR will benefit from these few extra months of development.”

When asked to provide more details, Gajda declined to comment saying, “Unfortunately I cannot reveal any detail information about the delay yet. We have to close a deal first. We’re getting a support in production and distribution. That’s all I can say right now.”

Alice VR is an immersive explorative experience that combines Lewis Carol inspired mechanics with a science fiction setting to create one of VR’s most intriguing upcoming releases.

“The spaceship failure forces you to land on an alien planet in order to replenish the graphene supply. The simple purchase task gets complicated when you realize that all the citizens have disappeared in mysterious circumstances. You’ll have to deal with a series of exciting puzzles before you can find out what has happened and be able to ultimately complete your mission,” reads Alice VR‘s official synopsis.

Alice began its life as a Steam Greenlight hopeful before passing the crowdsourced selection process and being officially welcomed onto the popular gaming platform.

Fall 2016 is the narrowest release date that Carbon Studios would commit to at this time. We will be sure to update you with more information on Alice VR as soon as it becomes available.
