Aces Of Thunder Gets Crossplay & More In Latest Update

Combat flight sim Aces of Thunder's latest update brings crossplay, plus new aircraft, new single-player missions, several gameplay tweaks and some VR-specific improvements.

Aces of Thunder has just received a major update. Titled "One Sky For All," the update introduces crossplay between PC and PlayStation 5 players, as well as new aircraft, missions, and a broad range of improvements to gameplay, presentation, UI, and VR-specific adjustments.

The update's major addition, crossplay, allows PC and PS5 players to share the same multiplayer matchmaking queues by default (though it should be noted that PlayStation 5 players have the ability to opt out of crossplay in the game's settings).

Three new aircraft join the squadron as separate DLC packs: these are the Ju 87 D-5, I-16 Type 27, and Bf 109 Z-1 Zwilling. Multiplayer and custom battles get new operations and locations, while additional single-player missions have been added, too. There are also new control options, gameplay fixes, and VR adjustments designed to provide better and more realistic and comfortable head positions across several aircraft.

The full patch notes can be seen on Aces of Thunder's game page.

We reviewed Aces of Thunder when it released earlier this year, and found it to be "one of the most thrilling venues for combat that VR gaming has to offer and a fitting callback to the classic flight sims of yesteryear."

Aces of Thunder is out now on PlayStation VR2 and Steam.
